Bibb Medical Center is proud to recognize Burkes Mechanical for its partnership and contribution through the Alabama Rural Hospital Investment Program. The Alabama Rural Hospital Investment Program was enacted by the Alabama state legislature in 2025 to help facilities enhance services, invest in equipment, and improve access to care in their local communities. This program allows Alabama taxpayers — both individuals and businesses — to redirect a portion of their state income taxes to qualified rural hospitals.
We are grateful for the support of our partners and friends at Burkes Mechanical, Chip and Mistie Burkes, for choosing to invest in the future of healthcare here at home. As a direct result of their significant $450,000.00 contribution, Bibb Medical Center will begin renovations in early 2026 to open a new dialysis center, which would not be possible without the generous support of Chip and Mistie Burkes and the partnership to bring this much-needed service to our community.
Burkes Mechanical's commitment to rural healthcare is helping make a lasting impact on our community. This investment will improve health outcomes, reduce the financial and emotional burden on patients, and establish a sustainable, high-quality local healthcare service. The dialysis center will serve as a vital lifeline for individuals and families across our region. Our partnership with DCI to provide this much-needed service ensures that patients can receive consistent, compassionate, and life-sustaining care close to home.
"Supporting BMC through this program helps keep our hospital strong while ensuring that our tax dollars stay right here in Bibb County. Mistie and I are proud to contribute and invest in the health of our community." - Chip Burkes, of Burkes Mechanical
The Rural Hospital Investment Program Board was established to administer the Program. The Board, within the Office of the State Treasurer, is responsible for approving eligible rural hospitals for the program. Community members and businesses interested in learning more about the Alabama Rural Hospital Investment Program and how it can help support Bibb Medical Center are encouraged to find out more from the Alabama Department of Revenue - Rural Hospital Tax Credit, where program procedures are outlined. More information can also be found on the Alabama Hospital Association website.
