Bibb Medical Center Announces New CEO and Leadership Appointments

Heather Desmond, MHA

Bibb Medical Center is proud to announce key leadership appointments that will guide the organization into its next chapter of service and growth.

Bibb Medical Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Desmond as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2026. Desmond brings a wealth of leadership experience and a strong commitment to advancing patient care, strengthening community partnerships, and supporting healthcare professionals. She is a native of Bibb County and holds a Master of Health Care Administration, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Commerce & Business Administration.

With a proven track record in healthcare administration, Desmond has demonstrated a passion for improving quality outcomes, expanding access to care, and fostering a culture of excellence. Her leadership style emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a patient-centered approach—values that align closely with the mission of Bibb Medical Center.

Desmond has been a dedicated employee of Bibb Medical Center since 2005. Much of that time was spent serving as Chief Financial Officer. During her tenure, she has played a critical role in strengthening the organization’s financial stability, supporting strategic initiatives, and ensuring long-term sustainability.

As CEO, Desmond will oversee all operations, focusing on strategic growth, patient satisfaction, and clinical excellence. She is committed to ensuring that Bibb Medical Center remains a trusted provider of high-quality, compassionate care.

Camille Gibson, BS, RN

In addition to this appointment, Camille Gibson will now serve as Hospital Administrator, where she will oversee daily operations of the hospital and help guide strategic initiatives that support quality care and organizational growth. In this role, she will work closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure efficient operations, enhance patient experience, and uphold the hospital’s standards of excellence. 

Gibson brings a wealth of knowledge to the position, with longstanding experience as a registered nurse complemented by extensive administrative leadership. Her clinical background provides a strong foundation for understanding patient needs, while her administrative expertise allows her to effectively manage hospital operations, and implement improvements.

Kandace Shoults, CRNP, NHA

Further strengthening the leadership team, Kandace Shoults will also serve as Nursing Home Administrator, bringing both extensive clinical expertise and a deep commitment to delivering compassionate, high-quality care to residents. In this role, she will oversee daily operations of the nursing home, ensuring that each resident receives attentive, personalized care in a safe and supportive environment.

Shoults is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and holds dual credentials as a Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist and Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. Her well-rounded background allows her to bridge clinical excellence with strong operational leadership, supporting both residents and staff with a thoughtful, patient-centered approach.
